Teen endometriosis sufferer helping schoolgirls

Emma Brown, 17, is one of an estimated 120,000 New Zealand sufferers of endometriosis, and through her fundraising efforts she is now helping other teenagers.

Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease estimated to affect one in 10 girls and women in New Zealand. Symptoms can include distressing period or pelvic pain caused by tissue on areas outside the uterus, according to Endometriosis New Zealand (ENZ).

The Roncalli College student was in acute pain for a year before she was finally diagnosed in 2015, at the age of 15.
